National Chocolate Covered Raisins

Today we celebrate a delicious treat that people love but don’t get some recognition, the Chocolate Covered Raisins.  This day is observed annually on the 24th.

Chocolate Covered Raisin is a type of snack especially popular at the movie house.  Moviegoers love to buy popcorn and a box of chocolate-covered raisins.

They are also popular in bulk in most supermarkets.  Chocolate Covered Raising are raisins coated with a shell made of milk or dark chocolate.  You can find them in your local groceries and sell by weight, or in some jars or in a small box sold at theaters snack stands.

In some countries, they are also known as Raisinets, which is the earliest and one of the most popular brands of the product, currently made by Ferrara, a subsidiary of Ferrero SpA. Raisinets were introduced in the United States in 1927 by the Blumenthal Chocolate Company. Ferrero acquired the brand in 2018 from Nestlé, who had briefly expanded the brand to include milk chocolate-covered dried cranberries.

So, today, celebrate this day by grabbing a box or a handful of chocolate-covered raisins to enjoy with friends and family during movie time in theaters or home.
